tim wells

It is with great pleasure that we present to you the first commissioned response to a song by Talons from their forthcoming album. This one comes by way of a fine poet named Tim Wells, and is written after the song Iris... this is what he has to say for himself:-

Tim Wells has cultivated a laugh that’s more like a caress. He walks properly. He does not slouch, shuffle or stumble about. He knows that wide, floating trousers are only good for wearing on a veranda with a cocktail in your hand. His latest collection, Rougher Yet, is published by Donut Press.

The Wells Have Eyes

I don’t
remember
it that way.
There was beers,
then shorts,
then shots.
Smiles,
chat,
then jokes
She was smiling,
that
sticks in my mind.
My arm
tight
around her,
the warmth of her,
nestled to me,
snuggling
to a more
satisfactory fit.
Turning
to kiss me,
tightness
and hugs.
But the pictures
All show
me
looming behind her,
our eyes
in the flash,
red, red, red.
