Harry Burke

Here is a new poem from UCL art history undergrad, Harry Burke, which references Allen Ginsberg's 'In Back of the Real' and the surreal, recent cyber-world of early internet aesthetic transfused with art. The poem is rife with intertextuality, and brilliantly original.

in respect to the real

how can we now say
‘i wandered desolate’
in front of a tank factory
or on a bench
or anywhere?
in respect to the switchman
you’ve been made redundant
i sent bella a message
(she is the flower of the world)
of a rose
which i decided to colour yellow
not the yellow of ducklings
or bellies
or our great eastern future
but my own
